Sublime Bikinis
Proudly designing smaller and smaller micro suits every year, the New Zealand company, Sublime Bikinis’ main goal is to make the “ sexiest, tiniest, most comfortable Gstrings in the world”. Originally designed for exotic dancers, the collection has been available online to the general population since 2003. It is not mass produced but rather is handmade by designer Flo Verlander and her assistant.
Shopping can be done by style or fabric but be forewarned that the styles are numerous. Choose between Bikini Briefs, Invisible Bikinis. Illegal Bikinis, Micro Bikinis, Standard Bikinis, Cheeky Bikinis or three piece bikinis. G-strings come in the same classifications.
Take a peek at the Invisible bikini and you will see it is appropriately named. According to the official description, “this G string consists of nothing more than a narrow strip of smooth lycra-covered elastic that is far more comfortable to wear than you’d expect”. Another glance takes us to the Shiny Indecent bikini with just enough coverage to say something is there. In a choice of t-back, t-back with side ties, r-back, r-back with ties or r-back suspenders, the top seems to be over-covered compared to the skimpy bottom.
And if the above two styles are not risqué enough, then try the Illegal bikini with revealing fishnet mesh in neon pink, yellow, black or white. Even scantier is the shiny micro bikini. It looks like a one piece but is really a bikini top with suspender style g-string made from a mix of Italian nylon and lycra.
The cheeky and standard bikinis have less coverage than most standard bikinis, but in comparison to the other styles on this website, these suits are mild in shock value. Pretty with rainbow colored stripes, cute little polka dots, and solid colors with accent piping, the models do look classy.
While the bikinis may be small, the selection of colors and fabrics is not. Eighteen colors from basic black and white to latté, cornflower and purple appease any personality. Fabrics are lycra, sheer and mesh, cotton-lycra, and hologram. Sizes are extreme, xx-small, x-small, small, medium and large. And one only needs to contact the designer for custom sizes for larger and smaller women. But remember that Sublime Bikinis’ “garments are designed to offer less coverage than the average store-bought Bikini. If you require more or less coverage on top, choose a size up or down from your usual size”.
In addition to the swimwear, Sublime Bikinis offers cotton underwear, micro shorts, bandeau tops, and three piece bikini skirt sets. Lastly, the company keeps very little inventory of their bikinis, preferring to sew the orders as they come in. But they do try to have all orders ready to ship within eight days. So the customer receives a quality garment, lovingly handmade in a very short period of time.
